Officers in drug raid 'acting on their own'

We assume a lot of things from this episode. Is it a drug deal gone bad? If this is not a sanctioned raid, we assume these types of raid has been conducted one too many times to get easy money from the syndicate so much so that they are fed up and seek to get rid of the "nuisance" once and for all. Some says these 'officers' were sacrificed for the 'greater good' i.e. in the form of RM150 million from the government. Let us not be hasty and jump to conclusion like the IGP and the PM. Get the cops killer first.

FROM THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

INVESTIGATIONS into last Thursday's shooting of four policemen during a drug raid have revealed that the officers concerned were taking part in an unsanctioned operation.

Two policemen were killed and another two were hurt when gunmen opened fire on them during the raid.

Checks at state and district police headquarters revealed that the policemen - two chief inspectors and two lance corporals - were not carrying out a scheduled operation on that day.

The New Straits Times reported that investigators are now waiting to question Chief Inspectors Helmi Zakaria and R. Rajakumar who are still hospitalised.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said investigators were trying to ascertain if the four had been members of a task force.

'If they are part of a task force, I want the force commander to explain why proper procedures for an operation were not followed,' he told reporters over the weekend.

'Normal operations are not conducted like this. We are investigating all possibilities,' replied Tan Sri Musa to a question whether the policemen were acting on their own.

'If they are found to have gone against procedures, action will be taken against them.'

The four policemen were ambushed by gunmen when they got out of their vehicle soon after arriving at the double-storey house in Sungei Buloh, Selangor.

Witnesses said there was a fifth man with the cops and he was in handcuffs.

It is not known why the suspect was being taken there but he was seen being taken away by the gunmen after the shooting.

Several people from the house, including a woman and two children, also left with the gunmen in two cars.

Police say they have found an undisclosed amount of syabu and ketamine on the premises. The place is believed to be operating as a packing and distribution centre for a drug syndicate.

Police have tightened border checks to prevent the gunmen from fleeing the country.

Neighbours have described the occupants of the house, who moved in about a year ago, as noisy and rude.

'They would leave the house late in the evening and return after 4am.

'They would drive in and out at odd times and make a lot of noise,' said a neighbour.

'Now we are all scared to walk outside our houses as they may have accomplices who can come back to create more problems,' said another resident.

IGP Wants To Know If Drug Raid Was Authorised

Obviously, the statement made by the IGP sounds stupid. We all know him for his 'tilam' carrying antics in Anwar Ibrahim's case. The police personnel involved may have carried out an investigation based on a tip-off. It doesn't matter whether the raid must be sanctioned first or not, as long as the act doesn't broke the law. They lost their life and the IGP must pull his act together an use all of his resources to get the cop killers first. That should be his priority. Not setting up an internal investigation. You can do that later, when the criminals are either shot dead or are in jail. He likes the attention of giving statement without thinking. In Nurin's murder for example, he said that Nurin's parents could be charged for negligence when the parents are still grieving. Please lah Mr IGP. Belajar la berfikir dengan otak.

From The Star

Was it an impromptu or an unauthorised raid? This is the question Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan wants answered after two policemen were shot dead and two others were critically wounded in a drug bust on Thursday.

“The two are still unconscious and we will only know what happened once we interview them after they regain consciousness.

“There are other angles we are also looking at. Right now we do not want to speculate,” he said, adding that an internal investigation was being carried out by a special team.

Musa reiterated that the priority now was to hunt down the cop killers.

He urged those with information to come forward and help the police.

“We have lifted several fingerprints and sent them to the National Registration Department.

“I can only say that we are working on several good leads but I cannot tell you what they are as our operations will be jeopardised,'' he told reporters at his Hari Raya open house at the senior officers mess in Bukit Aman yesterday.

The IGP said he has sent a memo to all CID chiefs to ensure that all raids conducted by their men followed standard operating procedures and must be authorised.

“The raids or operations must be sanctioned and approved and anyone who goes against orders will be dealt with accordingly,'' he added.

Musa also criticised a couple of newspapers for interviewing witnesses and splashing their photographs in their publications.

Describing their reporting as “irresponsible,” he said their actions had put the life of the witnesses in jeopardy and now the witnesses had to be given protection.

“Do not do such things just to sell your paper. Think of the lives of these people,” he said.

The IGP also expressed his condolences to the families of the policemen who were killed.

PPP: We're promised 4 parliament, 12 state seats

. Tuesday, October 23, 2007

The Youth wing of the People's Progressive Party (PPP) has accused the Barisan Nasional of betraying the party.

PPP Youth chief T. Murugiah said BN had forgotten its promises to the party when PPP joined the coalition in 1972.

He said the promise made then was that the PPP would retain the four parliament and 12 state seats which they had won in the 1969 general election.

"According to the agreement, when new seats are created every 10 years, PPP would also be allocated extra seats.

"What was agreed to was that 55 per cent of the seats would be allocated to Umno, 30 per cent to MCA and five per cent each to MIC, Gerakan and PPP. It was upon this understanding that the PPP joined the BN," Murugiah said at the PPP annual Youth Movement Convention at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.

Murugiah said the party had been labelled as demanding and outspoken by political analysts, who had failed to understand that the party was only asking for what was theirs.

"Gerakan wants its Taiping seat back and Umno wants its Bukit Gantang seat. It looks like all the parties are 'demanding and outspoken' then," he said.

PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas, who opened the convention, said he agreed with Murugiah.

"When PPP was strong in the past, it was asked to join the BN but when it was saddled with problems, it was just forgotten. There is a difference between asking for more seats and asking for our own seats back.

"It is not an issue. It's just a request and a reminder with no ill intentions and this is the right time for the request to be made," he said at a press conference later.

On Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam's statement that there were no more seats in Malacca to allocate to the PPP, Kayveas said: "He has no power to say that he cannot give us seats as that power lies with the prime minister.

"Even his post is given by the prime minister. When he becomes the prime minister, he can say that.

"He also has no right to ask any component party to leave the ruling coalition as that would need the unanimous consent of all 14 component parties."

Mohd Ali had asked the PPP to leave the coalition if it was dissatisfied with the seat allocation.

SPACE MISSION - SO WHAT?

.

It is yet another desperate move by the ruling party to beat up the drums on this space mission after the 50 years Merdeka celebration fizzled out and when people came back to reality. Now it is a space fantasy which is taking us on another ride of the Malaysian Boleh trip.

The reality is Malaysia exchanged palmoil for a space trip. In October 2003, the Malaysian Government signed an agreement with Russia where Russia will buy RM1.1 billion worth of palm oil and send a Malaysian into space as part of a RM3.5 billion-ringgit deal for 18 Sukhoi 30-MKM fighter jets.

Besides that Capitalism has taken science to yet another new dimension with the introduction of space tourism. Space tourism is a new phenomenon of filthy rich individuals and private companies paying to go to space.

The price for a flight brokered by Space Adventures to the International Space Station aboard a Soyuz spacecraft is now $30 million. Flights are fully booked until 2009.

Among some of the people who have gone to space since Dennis Tito became the first "fee-paying" passenger in 2001 are South African computer millionaire Mark Shuttleworth and Gregory Olsen an owner of a company which produces specialist high-sensitivity cameras.

According to the head of the Russian space agency's manned programs said that four space tourists have paid about $20 million for the pleasure of spending a week on the orbital station and said that each tourist flight deal is discussed individually and is considered a commercial secret.

The latest space tourist, Anousheh Ansari, 40, an Iranian-born American businesswoman, returned to Earth after paying around $20 million for about eight days in space. The Malaysian Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (SMS) is the latest of the list of space tourist.

While the Malaysians are kept busy with news on roticanai in space and fasting in space which are seen as new breakthroughs in science, the truth is before this Malaysian, more than 400 people have traveled to space not including many monkeys, chimpanzees, mice, frogs, tortoise, fish and dogs. Many of them have sacrificed or being sacrificed in many missions.

The question before us is how this mission is going to resolve our problems in planet earth. How can a space mission, worth billion of ringgit resolve the following problems faced by the nation :

1.Increasing Ethnic and racial disharmony
2.Increasing income gap of the rich and poor
3.Increasing corruption at all levels
4.Suppression of democratic rights – free and fair election, rights to assemble, expression and association, free media and others.
5.Increasing suffering incurred by the people with the rising of basic goods, fuel prices and controlled items.
6.The suffering incurred with the introduction of privatization and neo-liberal policies such as privatization of the health care, water and other basic amenities.
7.The suppression of workers through pro employer bills while workers are denied a basic living wage.
8.The continues decline of the Judiciary

Millions of ringgit is spent and wasted to send one person to space while the money could have been put in good use to improve the livelihood of the common people. While the ruling party points us to the star and takes us for a ride in space, this mission is just an ego trip by a Government which has lost its purpose and sense on what needs to be done for the betterment of the people.

Panel fails to get a single report after three weeks

. Thursday, October 18, 2007
1 comments

No one has come forward to give information on the video clip featuring a senior lawyer allegedly brokering the appointment of judges.

Three weeks have passed since the Government set up an independent panel to verify the authenticity of the video clip.

Panel chairman Tan Sri Haidar Mohd Noor said that until yesterday, the panel’s secretariat – the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department – had yet to report to him.

“I take it that nobody has come forward. If anybody had come forward, I’m sure the secretariat would have alerted me,” he told The Star.

The panel was set up on Sept 27 after the video clip was made public on Sept 19.

The 30-working day deadline given by the Government to investigate the video clip’s authenticity and submit a report ends on Nov 8.

Haidar said the Anti-Corruption Agency would be meeting the panel later this month for the ACA to give its report on the authenticity of the video clip.

This meeting, he said, was initially scheduled for yesterday but as the ACA was not ready, it was rescheduled to Oct 29 to give the agency’s experts more time to study the video.

The former Chief Judge of Malaya maintained that the role of the panel was only limited to determining the video clip’s authenticity.

He said currently, the panel could only hear the findings of the ACA because no other party had come forward with information.

“People have the impression that we just swallow whatever that is given to us.

“I can’t pre-empt what’s going to happen. Let’s see first whether we are happy or not (with the ACA’s findings).

“Let’s go step by step,” he said, adding that the panel would only be able to decide on its next course of action after the meeting with the ACA.

He said the panel, which also includes former Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mahadev Shanker and National Service Council chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, might seek a third party’s opinion.

In a statement, Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang lamented that the panel had not made any progress after three weeks.

He called on the panel members to resign and for a royal commission of inquiry be set up instead.

So far, the ACA has recorded statements from several people, including a prominent lawyer, a business tycoon and Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PKR vice-president Sivarasa Rasiah and Anwar’s personal assistant Sim Tze Tzin, who lodged a report with the ACA on the matter, are standing firm by their decision not to disclose the identity of the source of the video clip.

The video clip is 14 minutes and 16 seconds long but PKR edited it to 8 minutes and 26 seconds before releasing it, to protect the identity of the source.

The ACA issued a statement saying the video clip supplied to the agency was not the original copy. The agency urged anyone with an original copy to hand it over to facilitate investigations.

The Star

GeZoRT says : The rakyat is watching how serious this panel is in getting to the bottom of this major scandal and all the panel chairman can say is: “People have the impression that we just swallow whatever that is given to us." Why don't we send the video clip to FBI? Let them keep it say, until after the General Election. The 3 men Haidar Panel is just another ploy to delay things and it's a JOKE.

Another Constitutional Crisis

It's 'King's Prerogative'

The extension of the chief justice's tenure is the prerogative of the king, lawyer and Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh said yesterday.

He said a phrase in Article 125(1) of the Federal Constitution stated that a judge shall hold office until he attained the age of 66 and a further six months "as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong may approve" should be read together with Article 40(2).

Karpal said it was the king alone who had the discretion on whether to extend Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim's tenure after he turns 66 on Nov 1.

"The king may consult the prime minister, but it is purely consultation and nothing else," he said.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said on Tuesday that the king had to act on the prime minister's advice in the extension of the term.

Ahmad Fairuz had applied to the king in July for a six-month extension, but with less than two weeks to go before retirement, he has not received a letter to allow him to remain in office. The Bar Council yesterday urged the chief justice to withdraw his application to the king.

Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan said this was the first time the issue of extension under Article 125 had arisen, but felt it unnecessary to enter into a constitutional debate. The Conference of Rulers, which endorses the appointment and promotion of judicial officers, is due to meet for two days from Oct 31.

New Straits Times

GeZoRT says : Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said on Tuesday that the king had to act on the prime minister's advice in the extension of the term. When we say "ADVICE", a person can choose either to follow it or not. If a person has to follow strictly what he has been told to do, that is call "ORDERED" or "INSTRUCTED". What actually happened? Did our sleeping piem ADVICE or ORDERED the king?

Wah! We are now a space power

.

Dr Azmi Sharom is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya.

YOU might not know this, but there have been a lot of unhappy rumblings in Malaysian society regarding our space programme.

Actually, that is not accurate. We don’t really have a “space programme”, do we? After all, it’s not like we are pushing the technological frontiers and designing cutting-edge manned spacecraft.

No, to be more precise, we have an astronaut-training programme. Whoa, whoa, that is not true either. We didn’t train anyone; we paid the Russians to train our astronaut.

Oh, blow it all. That is still wrong. He is not an astronaut; he is a cosmonaut. The terms, according to Nasa, mean different things but, according to the Russians (and us), they mean the same thing.

Oh, this is all so confusing. All right, all right, let us start over again.

You might not know this, but there have been a lot of unhappy rumblings in Malaysian society regarding our paying the Russians buckets of money – the amount of which the Malaysian public is not 100% sure about – to train a bloke to be a spaceman (as accurate a definition I can think of, because he is a man and he is in space).

Yes, it is true. This wonderful achievement of the country – to find a handsome, clean-cut, healthy, intelligent fellow and pay someone else to get him into space – is being sneered at in some cynical quarters.

If you happen to be one of those people, I say to you: tsk, tsk, tsk. Where is your sense of patriotism? Where is your child-like optimism?

Going into space is a big deal. Just ask Dennis Tito and Mark Shuttleworth, two space tourists who did not have the luxury of buying Russian jet fighters to contra the costs of their cosmic flights. Coincidentally, one of the nasty things people are calling our Malaysian spaceman is “space tourist”.

For your information, unlike the two gentlemen mentioned above, our spaceman is not a tourist. No, no, no. He is going to do experiments, important experiments.

Apart from important experiments, he is going to be doing so much good in other ways. For example, he has opened the doors of opportunity for ordinary Malaysians. One of these days, I might go to space. To conduct experiments.

Don’t laugh because it is possible, for if the good doctor has proven anything, it is that if the Government is willing to spend a bit of money, anyone can go to space. Kind of like a galactic AirAsia.

Let us not forget all those little schoolchildren who are being inspired as you read this. They are going to know that Malaysia Boleh.

We can do all sorts of things. We are now a space power!

The next time their school computer lab collapses, or their teachers get demoralised due to poor pay, they can tell themselves that it all does not matter because we are a space power!

Last but not least, the spaceman is going to land on earth brimming with new scientific know-how. I am sure he will be able to use this newfound knowledge to help the country.

There is a great deal of high-tech equipment around that keeps malfunctioning. The traffic lights on Jalan Universiti, Kuala Lumpur, used to have a countdown, but it doesn’t work now.

And all that experience with space station to earth video conferencing will come in mighty useful in Dataran Merdeka, where the super high-tech giant TV screen broke down just when eager patriotic Malaysians gathered to watch the Soyuz rocket blast off.

So, all you naysayer types are very wrong and misguided. You should be like me and embrace our spaceman programme. Sit back and think of the glory that is “Malaysia the Space Power” while you unwrap a Raya ketupat.

Wait a minute; that is a great idea for a space experiment. How does unwrapping Raya ketupats fare in zero gravity ??

GeZoRT says : Despite the many reports on our angka"suck"wan being just another space tourist, many still believe he is up there doing lots of "scientific experiments", when in actual fact he is up there wearing batik on Hari Raya, trying "new" ketupats made by MARDI and playing gasing. Afterall, it's a free ride for him. I just do not want to be another sucker who believe he is there doing experiments that will benefit mankind.

More bodohisms

Well, it has now surfaced. Over Christmas last year, the Prime Minister was sailing in Australia with the husband of Michelle Yeoh when Johor was submerged by floods. Despite numerous calls from Kuala Lumpur asking him to return home, he still insisted on finishing his sailing holiday. When the Tsunami hit Malaysia on Boxing Day 2004, the Prime Minister was holidaying in Europe with his late wife Endon. Many people had died yet the Prime Minister refused to come home. He and his late wife wanted to complete their European holiday.

Two weeks ago, when survivors from the same Tsunami disaster complained to him that they still cannot move into low-cost flats built for them by the Government, the Prime Minister pretended to be surprised. “Why the delay?” the Prime Minister demanded to know from Koh Tsu Koon, the Chief Minister of Penang.

It turned out that the Tsunami victims could not move into their low-cost flats because the Ministry of Finance had insisted that they pay RM52,000 for each unit. The Penang State Government had suggested a lower price of RM42,000. And who is the Minister of Finance? It is the same Abdullah Bodowi. But the Prime Minister does not know this.

The Prime Minister does not know of the corruption in the JPJ and the illegal buses plying Malaysian roads (because the JPJ does not issue bus permits unless bribes are paid). So when a bus crashed killing a dozen people, the Prime Minister woke up and said “stop the buses”. Then all the buses were stopped. Drivers were checked for drug abuse and what not. The end result is that people had to take the train from Kota Bharu to return to KL after the Raya holidays. Since train tickets were sold out, people still boarded the train and paid the on the spot fine of RM30.00 to KTM. This is how the country now works.

Then an illegal ferry caught fire in Mersing and killed another half a dozen people. The Prime Minister did not know anything about this either. Never mind. The Prime Minister made the most childish asinine statement: “Abdullah said it was dangerous to operate ferries without a licence.” How profound, Mr Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister did not know what was going on in the ferry business either. If you do not pay the bribe you do not get the ferry permit. If you are not a bumi you do not get permits anyway. The bumi operators who get permits don’t operate the ferry; they sell the permit to the non-bumi operators. The end result is there are not enough ferries. Net result: people die.

Signalling that he was wide awake the Prime Minister said, “Action has to be taken. We cannot allow this to happen.”

Then, repeating his ignorance, again, he said, “I also want to know how the authorities missed the necessary inspections on this particular boat.” Well it’s your bloody Government. You are the bloody Prime Minister. If you do not know what is going on in your own Government, how do you expect the ferry operators, the housing contractors and the bus drivers to know?

The Prime Minister does not know anything that is going on. Then, when the holy stuff hits the fan, he wakes up and fingers his navel again. He did not know of the massive corruption in the Judiciary. When the videotape was released showing a senior lawyer obviously talking about fixing judicial appointments, the Prime Minister was caught off guard again.

Now the Yang di-Pertuan Agong does not want to extend the tenure of the Chief Justice Tun Ahmad Fairuz, whose name has been implicated in the video tape. Daulat Tuanku. The people are fully behind you on this one.

Now Chief Dumb Ass Nazri Aziz has come out insisting that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has to act on the advice of the prime minister on extending the tenure of the chief justice.

Nazri said the king, as a constitutional monarch, was bound by the prime minister's advice in the appointment and promotion of judicial officers.

“This includes whether to extend by six months the tenure of the chief justice after he attains the compulsory retirement age of 66,” he said

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is our Constitutional Monarch. It is a titular role which also carries with it some duties of State. But more importantly the very institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (and that of all the Malay Rulers) demands the respect of all Malaysians. If we do not respect the Agong then why have the Agong in the first place?

By shouting to the whole world that the Agong is bound to listen to the prime minister, Chief Dumb Ass Nazri is saying that the Agong is just a puppet. According to Nazri we can have our Agong but we will tell him what to do.

Nazri is again exhibiting extreme stupidity and kurang ajar. An unconfirmed rumour has it that Nazri suffered extreme trauma to his brain when he was a child. In the traditional method of ‘Adat Tempurong Bisu’, children were sometimes dropped on their heads to dull their senses - to make them cry less at night. The dullness is certainly shining through now.

The country is in the hands of the jokers, the inept, the corrupt and the uncouth. If the Yang di-Pertuan Agong decides to exert his authority and disagree with the extension of a judge who has been implicated in a scandal then the public will be fully behind the King. Daulat Tuanku. Long live the King.

ZAKARIA'S MANSION

. Tuesday, October 16, 2007

PORT Klang assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros opened his controversial mansion to the press for the first time on Tuesday ahead of the Hari Raya celebrations. The outspoken politician took reporters on a tour of his home, which grabbed the nation’s attention last year as the building was put up without approval from the local council. The mansion has 21 bathrooms and 16 bedrooms, where his 11 children would occupy one each. Besides this, the mansion has a swimming pool, several gazebos, an orchard, a two-hole mini golf course, a VIP room, three living rooms, a prayer room, an office, a store room, two rooms for maids, a dining room, a wet kitchen and a dry kitchen.

His master bedroom, which has a changing room and a jacuzzi, is bigger than a low-cost house. The floors are high quality marble while the ceiling is fitted with plaster ceiling, decorated panels and crystal chandeliers.

On Tuesday, Zakaria invited 400 orphans to spend a night at his palatial mansion and he said it would become an annual event. His family moved into the mansion on Wednesday. Last year, Zakaria had a run-in with the law for building a mansion without the necessary approval. He was also found to have not paid the assessment for a property of his for 12 years.

He and his family were also caught operating an illegal satay restaurant built on government reserve land. Due to the controversy over the building of the mansion, Zakaria, who succumbed to mounting pressure, had decided not to continue as councillor for the 2007-2008 term.

According to The Star :

1. 200,000 people are expected to attend the Hari Raya open house hosted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his Cabinet Ministers at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on Saturday. The event would be opened to the public from 12.30pm to 5pm, while VIPs including foreign dignitaries and ambassadors would arrive from 11am to 12.30pm.

2. Putrade Property Management Sdn Bhd (Putrade) president-cum-chief executive officer, Senator Datuk Yaakob Mohammad, said that about RM1.5 million had been spent for the event.

3. Its senior manager (operations) Suratta Mohd Rus. Yaakob said about 50,000kg of meat, vegetables, fruits, chillies and fish would be used to prepare the dishes.

Lets sit back and think :

1. It will take the Prime Minister about five seconds to shake the hand of one guest. In one minute, Abdullah can shake the hands of 12 people and in an hour 720 people. Considering the open house is for only six hours, Abdullah will be able to shake the hands of only 4,320 people.

2. Considering there are 1,850 parking lots and we give each car half an hour to an hour to get in and then out again, at the most 50,000 people can drive there unless they take a train, bus or taxi.

3. But then if you are queuing up for an hour waiting for your turn to shake the Prime Minister’s hand then the figure would drop to 35,000 or 40,000.

This could mean either one of the following :

1. 195,680 guests will just go there and eat without wishing Abdullah Hari Raya or without shaking his hands.

2. Abdullah will have to extend his six-hour open house to 278 hours or almost twelve days (and that is only if he stands there for twelve days non-stop without sleeping, eating, praying, bathing, sitting down, answering the call of nature, etc., in-between shaking the hands of 200,000 people).

3. The 200,000 guests is a bullshit figure and a spin by the Fourth Floor boys to impress upon us that the Prime Minister is still very popular whereas less than 10% of that or 20,000 will actually turn up.

4. Since they are spending RM1.5 million for this open house, this would mean it comes to RM7.50 per head if it is really 200,000 guests. But if the actual number of guests will come to only 20,000, then the cost spirals to RM75.00 per head.

Sending the first Proton to Mars.

After the successful launch of the first Malaysian space tourist to the IRS ISS, we should have a new ambition. It would be too premature to be satisfied at the prospect of sending 2 Bolehnauts to space and it is perfectly normal to achieve more. Never mind about wasting taxpayers moolah (if they make more noises after this they will be shot like how the Burmese junta execute their monks), never mind if the project is about brewing teh tarik in space because such discovery will only inspire local brewer to revolutionize their outdated tarik-ing skills.

It can also be the golden opportunity to transform the national drink into a well known brand like Setarbak. Trust me, it would be a dream come true for many Malaysians to have teh tarik available all around the world. At least I can brag this to the ang mohs when I’m in their country, “hey that’s my national drink, dammit!”. This mission is going to be the partial contribution of sending our men to space.

As I said above, the Malaysian government and Malaysians in general should not rest their laurels and be contented with their new found achievement. It’s time for Malaysian scientists to come up with an ingenius blue print to send the first Proton car to Mars. The Russians have their Sputnik, the Yanks have their Apollo, the Chinese have their Shenzhou, Malaysians should design their own spacecraft and name them Unggas (birds).

When I say design blue prints for our own Unggas Spacecraft, by all means DO NOT adopt the mentaliy of our national car makers. I hope they will not rebadge another obsolete Shenzhou and call it the first ‘Malaysian made’ spacecraft. However, seeing time is running out for our local teh tarik scientists before Wawasan (vision) 2020 3030 approaches, it is most likely our very own Unggas spacecraft will be rebadge from ShenZhou.

The Prime minister can’t wait that long (only if he holds the office long enough which I don’t think he will) to witness the historic event in his lifetime before he dies happily ever after in his tomb. I guess it doesn’t matter anymore if the spacecraft is a rebadge version because the most important mission of all is to send our first Proton Car to Mars.

That I believe, is going to be Malaysia’s ultimate achievement of all time.

In July 2007, a 54 year old woman was sexually molested by a 70 year old man, her neighbour. The woman, Siti Asmidah Binti Sanusi, went to complain to the imam of the local mosque and he advised her not to make a fuss over the matter as the culprit is related to the Selangor Menteri Besar. The imam told the fraught woman that the sexual predator known as Samsudin is an uncle to Khir Toyo and was in fact his wakil calun during the last election.

Nevertheless, she could not keep quiet any longer because this was not the first time this man had molested her and by now the whole village was aware of the incident. So, on 12 September 2007, she made a police report, the copy of which can be viewed below. But the police did not take any action by virtue of the fact that the sexual predator is ‘someone’ and related to the Menteri Besar.

This is the fate of ‘small people’ when faced against ‘big people’. Justice is only allowed those with ‘connections’ to those who walk in the corridors of power. If you are not ‘someone’, if you are a ‘nobody’, then they can literally murder you and no one will lift a finger.

Don’t believe me: then let us ask what happened to the son of a minister who always puts his foot in his mouth and calls Lim Kit Siang ‘orang tua’ and tells the Chinese to get the fuck out of Malaysia if they are not happy? Yes, we are talking about the minister who is offering plastic surgery to whistle-blowers and whose son has been implicated in murder.

Here, we have not a mere whistle-blower but a 54 year old woman who was sexually molested by someone who wields political power. What is sexual assault when those who walk in the corridors of power can even get away with murder?

Anyway, in a few days we shall be revealing the names of a few whistle-blowers who squealed on the underworld organised crime bosses. These whistle-blowers certainly need a new identity plus plastic surgery to change how they look. And why are we going to reveal the names of these whistle-blowers? We are going to reveal their names because the Anti-Corruption Agency has already done so. These whistle-blowers whose identities are supposed to be protected have been exposed by the Anti-Corruption Agency and in a few days time we shall reveal the documents that are like a death warrant hanging over the heads of the whistle-blowers.

In the meantime, we would like the police to explain what they are doing about the police report this 54 year old woman made. Is this 70 year old man that powerful that he can enjoy exemption from being brought before a court of law? When a minor who stole RM0.90 can be jailed for two years and another who left his identity card at home can be detained for six months, does this mean these crimes are more serious than the crime of sexually molesting a woman?

If this is not true and if the well-connected man did not sexually molest this woman, then maybe the police can arrest the woman for making a false police report and send her to jail for a long, long time. This will not be the first time that the victim is jailed while the criminal walks free. This is, after all, Malaysia, and in Malaysia semua boleh.

Firstly, congrats to Dr. SMS for being the first Malaysian astronaut.

Or the first Malaysian space tourist fully paid by the rakyat.

What should we called an astronaut from Malaysia - CAN-OR-NOT?

Are we planning to go to the moon too?

Better still, why not plan to go to Mars?

Bila Perdana Menteri tidur!!

.

Monday Morning Treat!

Hi folks, here's something to start your day and even week off on a great note. It certainly has mine.

Mum sent me this photo this morning via sms (thank God for technology!). Dad had just had breakfast and was happily contemplating his move up to Bunga Raya a bit later.

I dashed to IJN and found a whole press scrum downstairs. It seems that someone had told them that Dad would be discharged today. Not quite true! But for the moment, the move up to the 5th floor is good enough for us.

Here's me and Dad up at Bunga Raya. Doesn't he look good? Had lunch of spaghetti marinara, salad, fruit and pudding after that.Things are looking up!

Talking of good news, Mum visited Hui Yi this morning. She's awake, looking good and even holding two thumbs up in triumph. Her parents are by her side and beside themselves with joy. And the Sarawakian lung recipient is also up on his bed and doing good.

An appeal...

Dear folks, one of the things that often happens during Ramadan is that our blood supplies run low. That's because apparently a lot of blood donors are Muslims and during Ramadan, they tend not to donate as much. This means that things get rather scary for people in hospitals especially when there are major operations to perform. The other night, when the IJN heart and lung transplant were getting into gear to do the second heart transplant for Hui Yi, I overhead them talking with concern about the very low supplies of blood available.

So...if you're healthy and willing, do run down to the Kampung Baru Masjid Jame from 7.30pm onwards and donate your blood. The blood donation drive is being run by ANSARA at the behest of the national Blood Bank because it is really an emergency situation. See Big Dog's blog here for more information.

Everybody is welcome...and I mean EVERYBODY.

Thanks and God bless you!

Have a good rest Tun, because we all know you really need it.

Nazri ‘bodohs’ it again, Tsu Koon makes PM look stupid

.

Today’s Utusan Malaysia says that the Prime Minister Abdullah Bodowi got upset that some of the Tsunami victims in Penang who lost their homes in 2004 still have not moved into low-cost flats which the government built for them. For the past three years the victims have been living in ‘long houses’ or rumah panjang.

The Prime Minister angrily said, “Mereka sememangnya patut berpindah dan memasuki rumah baru yang ditawarkan jika telah memenuhi syarat dan layak memiliki rumah berkenaan.”

I say Mr Prime Minister, if their houses were destroyed by the Tsunami, isn’t that ‘memenuhi syarat’ enough?

Then the Prime Minister pretended to be even more upset. “Siapa yang layak dan penuhi syarat sepatutnya sudah boleh masuk (rumah baru)... tunggu apa lagi?” he said.

The victims have indeed been trying to get their lives restarted over the past three years. They have been fighting with the Napoleon’s for new housing. Nothing has happened, hence their appeal to the Prime Minister for help to deal with the Napoleons. But what was the Prime Minister's reply? Here it is:

In other words the Prime Minister wants the victims to go and deal with the same Napoleons. They have to go and explain again why they qualify for low-cost housing. The fact that the Tsunami destroyed their homes is not enough.

Then the real story came through.

It’s not the local Napoleons but the Federal Government which could not make up its mind on how to price the low-cost houses. This is when Chief Minister Koh Tsu Koon came into the picture and made Abdullah Bodowi look like a fool again.

“Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon dipetik sebagai berkata bahawa kerajaan negeri mahu harga rumah itu ditetapkan pada RM42,000 tetapi Kerajaan Pusat dikatakan mempertahankan harga iaitu RM52,000.”

It was not the State Government that was playing Napoleon. According to Tsu Koon, it was the Federal Government which wanted to sell the low-cost flats for RM10,000 more than the State Government price of RM42.000.

It as then reported: “Dr. Koh berkata, kerajaan negeri telah mengemukakan usul supaya kesemua mangsa dipindah masuk terlebih dahulu sementara perbincangan untuk memutuskan harga bagi 100 unit pangsapuri di kawasan Tanjung Bungah ditentukan.”

In just a few words Tsu Koon made Bodowi look really foolish. Why not move the victims into the low cost houses first? Argue about whether the price should be RM42,000 or RM52,000 later lah!

The fact is the building contract for the low-cost homes was given to Bodowi’s cronies in Penang (the Rahim Saibu gang and others). The Federal Government cannot agree on the price because they have not decided how much the local mafia can ‘overcharge’ for the low-cost homes. This is a ‘direct negotiation’ project. Mesti mau kasi duit sama itu YB semua.

Well, so what? The Tanjong Bungah folks can stay in the ‘long houses’ a bit longer. They will be voting Barisan again anyway.

Well folks, there is no bottom to the brainless antics of our Prime Minister, the Ministers and Members of Parliament. We all thought the Member of Parliament from Kebinatangan set a new low when he revealed that his mother and sisters were ‘bocor’.

Then Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mohamed Nazri Aziz said that the parents of a rape cum murder victim should be charged for negligence. Nazri’s brainless statement elicited an unnecessary outcry from the public - such charges would never stick and be a complete waste of public funds.

But in today’s newspapers Nazri is quoted as saying that in the case of the VK Lingam tapes, if the source does not step forward, then there is no case. But to encourage the source to step forward, he said that a new identity or even new look can be arranged for the person or persons who took the controversial video.

He said, “They will not only be protected but can also undergo (plastic) surgery to change their look.”

I say, kawan, who wants to go for plastic surgery and have their face changed just because of some chicken shit Indian lawyer and some chicken shit Melayu judge? Surely people have better things to do in life.

In the television movies, the FBI arranges for plastic surgery in their Witness Protection Program to escape from murderers, the Mafia and Government appointed assassins. Is Nazri suggesting that VK Lingam and the Judge are capable of murdering people, to the extent that the witness must have plastic surgery to hide his identity?

But I agree with Nazri that if the maker of the video does not step forward, then there is no case. If they cannot find the source of the C4 which blew up Altantuya then there is no case either. Do we all remember Norita’s murder? She was not murdered. God killed her, then. He tied her hands behind her back with electric wire. Her death was an act of God. There is no other evidence.

“I say Lingam, you know I have this problem with the Go-men lah. My company is putting one case in Court lah. How much you charge ah if we have to speak to the Judge lah. Dont worry my handphone no video one. . "

Does AirAsia have only 6 planes on order-not the hundreds as reported

Most media have reported, as has the BBC in the story below, that Air Asia has ordered hundreds of new A320s.

However the list provided at
http://www.edinavtn.co.uk/assets/files/PDFs/A320.pdf
dated 1 September 2007, shows only 6 planes on order.

Air Asia raises Airbus A320 order

Malaysian airline Air Asia has boosted the size of its fleet, ordering 100 more A320 planes from Airbus.

The group has also taken out an option for a further 30 planes as it prepares for the launch of a joint venture for budget long-haul flights, Air Asia X.

Air Asia declined to give details of the deal, but at catalogue prices it would be worth more than $6bn (£3bn).

The deal doubles an order the group placed with European planemaker Airbus last month for 100 of the A320s.

The small planes are used for short- and medium-haul flights, and are expected to be delivered after 2012.

Air Asia currently has a fleet of 50 aircraft, comprising 15 A320s and 35 Boeing 737-300s.

Earlier this month, the group said it was launching a no-frills long-haul service in partnership with Fly Asian Express, the carrier that is majority owned by Air Asia chief Tony Fernandes.

Perdana Menteri Yang Hilang...

Sang Kelembai: Berkata Muhammad S.A.W.

Senarai harga minyak sepanjang zaman, bagaimanakah Hari Raya kita?

. Friday, October 5, 2007
0 comments

1.sebelum tahun 1990 - RM 0.89

2.tahun 1990 - RM 1.10 (kenaikan RM 0.21)

3.01/10/2000 - RM 1.20 (kenaikan RM 0.10)

4.20/10/2001 - RM 1.30 (kenaikan RM 0.10)

5.01/05/2002 - RM 1.32 (kenaikan RM 0.02)

6.31/10/2002 - RM 1.33 (kenaikan RM 0.01)

7.01/03/2003 - RM 1.35 (kenaikan RM 0.02)

8.01/05/2004 - RM 1.37 (kenaikan RM 0.02)

9.01/10/2004 - RM 1.42 (kenaikan RM 0.05)

10.05/05/2005 - RM 1.52 (kenaikan RM 0.10)

11.31/07/2005 - RM 1.62 (kenaikan RM 0.10)

12.28/02/2006 - RM 1.92 (kenaikan RM 0.30)

Nota : (ayat - ayat standard)

1. Kenaikan minyak masih rendah berbanding mana2 pun negara ASEAN.

2. Kerajaan akan pastikan kenaikan tidak membebankan.

3. Kerajaan tidak mampu lagi menampung subsidi.

Menantu PM Nak Jadi PM Pada Umur 40 (1)

.

Sebab itulah menantu PM menyusun orang-orangnya didalam UMNO terlebih dahulu.

Bersambung....

Selamat Berpuasa Mr Prime Minister

The Prime Minister will be returning home from overseas very, very soon on the 11th of October 2007 - just two days before the Hari Raya which is expected to fall on the 13th of October 2007.

Beginning 18th September 2007, the Prime Minister left for overseas on extremely important duties. First, he went to New York and now he is in Europe. This means the Prime Minister has been away overseas for almost the entire fasting month.

Hopefully it is not too taxing for the Prime Minister to be doing all this travelling on an empty stomach, especially accompanied by a new wife who has little or no experience fasting. But since they are travelling, it is alright if they miss fasting for three or four weeks. This is Islam Hadhari - you just have to be civilised. Maybe this is a new trend that the Prime Minister is setting. Maybe all future Prime Ministers will be travelling overseas for three weeks or four weeks during the fasting month.

So whats up in New York and Europe ? Nothing much really. No one can even recall what the Prime Minister said anywhere. Even he cannot recall what he said. The Prime Minister has no vision or plan for anything beyond seven days.

He is reminiscent of Gus Dur and his wheelchair bound wife (plus the other woman who sat on his lap). Gus Dur and his wheelchair bound wife travelled the world making endless appearances and speeches - often to the great embarrasment of their host countries, who had never had the experience of preparing official State welcomes for a half-blind President or a wheelchair bound 'First Lady' who was also incoherent. But that was Gus Dur. He wanted to travel the world on State expense, making useless appearances and empty speeches.

The other reason the Prime Minister is avoiding being at home for the fasting month is because he is meeting party members and sorting out the date of the General Elections as well as the list of election candidates. The recent 'leak' in the media that elections may be held as late as 2009 could be a ruse. The elections could be held in less than six weeks time - while some say it could be on 25 November 2007, three weeks after the Umno General Assembly which ends on 9 November.

The more time passes, the more unstable the Government becomes. The Ministers are incapable of functioning well or of moving the country forward. Almost all the mega-projects announced by the Prime Minister are not moving at all. It is a fact that none of them have even started. The Penang Bridge has not started, the East-West Gas Pipeline has stalled, the IDR has not started, the Eastern Corridor and Northern Corridor have also not started.

The Prime Minister has postponed Vision 2020 by another 50 years to 2057. Therefore the PGCC project in Penang is also scheduled for completion by 2027. This means that the country is not going to move forward. They have no clue how to get the economy going.

In the meantime, the Prime Minister, his family, and the Ministers, are busy lining their pockets. A crystal mosque has been built in Terengganu. Also a replica of Masjid Negara. Idris Jusoh has few other ideas how to siphon off the Wang Ehsan Terengganu. This year's Monsoon Cup may be seen as coming again too early after last year's Monsoon Cup (the monsoon does come by once every year). But spending RM300 million every 12 months to sail around a river mouth may be just too obvious lah Dato.

Dato Idris, there are other ways to spend the Wang Ehsan and which can really benefit the people. But you need to talk to honest people to be able to do that. Honest people are a rare species in our country. They may be an endangered species in Terengganu just like the almost extinct Leatherback Turtle.

OK, have to go now. Tonight's buka puasa at our place will be beef rendang, pulut, kari ayam, nasi tomato, vegetables, fruits and drinks. Wonder what the Prime Minister is doing around buka puasa time - in London is it?

Raja Petra

Nowadays there's no press statement when the PM leaves the country. Or why he is out of the country so often?? I watched on TV his speech in the UN. The hall was half-filled, unlike Mahathir's time when the world look forward for his speech.

Sehari Di Malaysia Dan New York

DARI NEW YORK, akhbar The Sunday Star melaporkan Perdana Menteri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sebagai berkata:

“This has been a meaningful year for Malaysia which celebrates its 50th year of independence. It is also the 50th anniversary of our membership in the United Nations.”

1. Seorang perempuan Indonesia berusia 23 tahun ditahan berkaitan kes pembunuhan Nurin Jazlin Jazimin. Sementara itu, seorang daripada lima yang ditahan sebelum ini dibebaskan;

2. Polis membebaskan dua lelaki Nigeria dan menahan seorang tukang masak tempatan berusia 35 tahun bersabit pembunuhan dua wanita Malaysia keturunan Cina di Kepong;

3. Polis menahan tiga lelaki, termasuk seorang anggota polis, di Muar, Johor kerana disyaki mencolek dan merogol seorang wanita Indonesia awal bulan ini.

4. Di Kulai, Johor, seorang yang disyaki penjual dadah ditembak mati oleh polis;

5. Di Kuantan, tujuh terbunuh apabila sebuah van yang membawa 11 penumpang merempuh lori tangki yang berhenti;

6. Polis berpakaian preman akan membuat pengintipan di semua terminal bas untuk menangkap penjual tiket haram (kutu) dan pemandu yang memandu secara berbahaya;

7. Seramai 120 penuntut Universiti Malaya yang menyokong pasukan pro-mahasiswa (pembangkang) mengadakan tunjuk perasaan menuntut pembatalan 16 calon pilihan raya kampus; dan

Jibreil??

Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin has named his son Jibreil Ali Jamaluddin Abu Bakar. However, the name has yet to be officially announced to the public.

Khairy said he and his wife Nori decided on Jibreil because they liked the name.

“It also bears a special significance because Jibreil (variedly spelt) is one of the most important icons in Islam, especially with regards to Ramadan,” he added.

The couple has yet to release the photographs of their baby, the fifth grandchild of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The Prime Minister's son, Datuk Kamaluddin Abdullah, and his wife Datin Azreen have four children.

Khairy said Abdullah also approved of the name Jibreil, noting that the child was born on Sept 13, the first day of the Muslim fasting month this year.

In Islam, Jibreil is acknowledged as Allah’s chief archangel, appearing usually as a divine messenger.

He is said to be the angel of revelation (wahyu) and the intermediary between God and Prophet Muhammad in unveiling the verses of the Quran.

And it was in Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar, that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet.

There are two basic views by Muslim scholars and historians with regards to the day the Quran was first revealed.

The first view is that it was on the 17th of Ramadan. This day is traditionally observed in Malaysia as Nuzul Al-Quran.

The other view is that it was revealed on the night of Laylat-ul-Qadr, which is believed to come on an odd-numbered night in the last 10 days of the fasting month.

No one knows exactly which night it is; and for Muslims, it is one of Allah’s mysteries.

Khairy, whose full name is Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, said Ali was chosen as a middle name for his child because they wanted a name after Nori’s late godfather.

The name Ali is also in reference to one of the Prophet’s close companions, Saidina Ali ibni Abu Talib, who was the fourth Caliph after the demise of Muhammad and who was also the Prophet’s cousin as well as son-in-law.

Privacy has been cited as a reason for the reluctance of Khairy and Nori to release their son's pictures.

Nori delivered the 3.3kg baby boy at the Pantai Medical Centre by Caesarean section and Khairy was present to cut the umbilical cord.

Khairy said he had been a “hands-on father” and that he enjoyed bathing his son.

“That’s my speciality. Nori feeds him. That’s our division of labour,” he said, adding that he had also been changing the diapers.
